We have officially finished this full back tattoo inspired by Ruslan and Lyudmila. Huge thank you to my client for trusting me with a project of this scale and meaning. A full back piece is a serious commitment, and this one carried personal history, memory, and cultural roots. My client was born in the US, but his parents are from Russia. This poem was one of those things passed down at home. Many people who grew up in Russia or across post-Soviet countries know these lines by heart from childhood. Ruslan and Lyudmila is a narrative poem by Alexander Pushkin, one of the most respected figures in Russian literature. The opening lines live somewhere between folklore and childhood memory, and they are instantly recognizable for those who grew up with the language. I am adding photos with the original poem excerpt used as inspiration for this tattoo. Thank you again for the trust, the patience, and the chance to create such an unusual and meaningful project.
