It’s kind of cool to me now that I can give art to my friends in the form of tattoos. Ben is a friend from childhood, we’ve known each other for 30 years now. I consider him my best friend, more like a brother really. One of those people that you can pick up from where you left off and talk to with just about anything. I don’t know if Ben even remembers this, but somewhere in our early twenties while hanging out he shared some words that has stuck with me ever since. We were going to different colleges and working towards our individual future goals and I forget what was bothering me at the time (probably not having enough money for things I needed), but I shared some stress and anxiety about finding a good career and being able to make a better life for myself. He said something along the lines of ‘You’re always going to be alright because you’re a smart person and you never give up’. Those words found their way to the surface again recently when again, I was at a point in my life where I going to make a huge shift in my career. An intentional choice not to keep clinging on to money and security, but instead going after something uncomfortable and scary that’ll eventually make me happier in life. So again, I find myself here in a part of my life figuring things out, and again with the comfort and support of friends pushing me through. Thank you to all that have gotten a tattoo from me or interested in getting a tattoo from me this early on in my new path.
