My boy @pedro_tattooartist and I have spent countless hours in the shop together, so when he asked me to create a full back tattoo for him, I knew we had to build something powerful.
People think the pickiest clients are regular clients… but the hardest person to tattoo is another tattoo artist. They know every detail of the process, every move, every choice. They always say “nah bro, I trust ya,” but they see everything haha
He came in with a simple idea, a knight tattoo mixed with a few concepts. After a couple days bouncing ideas back and forth, we locked in on the final direction:
a medieval knight, detailed armor, a skeleton, and gothic architecture blending into a full realism back piece.
I dove into the concept, sketched nonstop, refined textures, shapes and light until the design finally had the energy we wanted. The second he saw it, he was all in.
This project took 10 full sessions.
One entire day just for stencil placement and linework (the hardest step for sure). The rest was pure grind, layering shading, building depth, pushing contrast, dialing in every detail of the armor, the skeleton, the drapery, and the gothic structures.
Pieces like this aren’t “quick bangers.” They take commitment, time, technical planning, and real trust between artist and client. And my boy handled it like an absolute champ.
So here’s my appreciation, bro.
For trusting me with your skin.
For the long hours, the laughs, the grind.
For showing up every single session ready to push.
And for being the artist and human you are.
Honored to create this amazing back piece with you.
