๐ดJAAAAAAMES BAXTER๐ถ
I have a lot of thoughts to post about this little piece given the current state of the world and what this tattoo meant for my client, and in turn, what it means for me. Read my blurb below โฌ๏ธ
It's been so difficult for me to want to create right now, let alone market myself. I have many stints of not posting or drawing for a while. The recent events in history have been shocking and heavy for everyone, and it's easy to forget who we are and what we really represent during these times. The death of Charlie Kirk, the tyranny of Isreal, the rise of fascism, and the secrets of our government leave us feeling drained and hopeless.
My client Joyce wanted James tattooed on them to keep some of his energy around when things get tough. In the face of fascism and oppression, we must keep creating and speaking out loud for those that can't. Today, Joyce reminded me that we are all connected, and we should hold onto what we love and carry ourselves with respect in a world that wants to see us eradicated. I will forever try my best to speak up, even if my voice is small. We cannot diminish our spirits and make ourselves small for others.
To you all, I encourage you to embody what James Baxter represented in the beautiful show that is Adventure Time. Dance, sing, create, carry on, and move to the beat of your own drum. When you do, others will follow, and we can inspire hope in the face of those that wish to control us.
Thank you to Joyce for the refreshing conversation and connection you shared with me today, I really needed it. ๐ May those who are chained, physically and metaphorically, one day find peace and freedom.
