What I do with intention. This has truly been a year of shedding the old skin. As the year comes to a conclusion and we prepare to embark on a new one, with new motivations, I have been rolling around the idea of inviting magic back into my process. I have always applied intention, thoughtfulness and intuition to my work, but as the winter gets along I am feeling the deep need to reconnect with the sacred connection between us and the ritual of tattooing. In 2026, I will celebrate 20 years of professional tattooing. That seems like a monumental number that could be accompanied by a loss excitement or novelty when placed in the context of the relentless drive of capitalism and competition. But instead, I feel a returning. I am no longer consumed by the question, am I doing it right? Will my designs fulfill the needs of the person that is wearing it? Will my peers and mentors appreciate the quality of my craftsmanship? The presence that I occupy, the energy that I bring to my work, is true to the core of my being, but we cultivate this space together. When we bring our authenticity into collaboration, what we make together is truth- The ritual of tattooing IS sacred. The marks that we make are an honorary of your truth and belonging here in this world. The plants and animals that we observe and inspire us are the guides that bring us back to our true nature. I am here because I am following my deepest calling, in service. We are here with intention and it is not a coincidence that we found each other in this space.
