12x18” watercolor - i have some detailing work to do, but it’s at the point where no one will notice but me and i’m too excited to not share. this painting reflects my journey of unpacking trauma & gender, aided by psychedelics. finishing this was a leap of faith in myself - i have spent a lifetime of art bound by the confines of realism, coming from a complete lack of trust in my own hands, trust in myself. too afraid to stray from what my eyes saw. this is the first major piece i have completed without heavily relying on a reference. leaning into the patterns i see in the feathers, the patterns that aren’t there, the patterns within myself 🌟
